ITS World Congress 2018

This is the 25th edition of the ITS World Congress and it will take place under the theme “Quality of Life”.
The ITS World Congress provides the ideal opportunity for all stakeholders to come together, discuss and make the necessary contacts to move initiatives forward and to develop their business by exhibiting and demonstrating state of the art ITS solutions. The Congress also showcases the latest ITS achievements from the city and region hosting the Congress.
The ITS Congresses consist of three main areas:
1. Congress programme sessions and presentations of the latest developments in ITS
2. Demonstrations – showcases of current ITS technology being developed and deployed throughout the world)
3. Exhibition – exhibition booths and dedicated sessions/events
Participating in these three areas offers a unique opportunity to show and explain the latest technologies and services, with a slightly different focus for each.
AUTOPILOT Special Interest Session (SIS)
Together with SynchroniCity, AUTOPILOT will host the session “IoT advancing Automated Mobility and Smart Cities for improved Quality of Life”. It will take place on 17 September from 11:00 to 12:00 in the Berlin room (B4 M1-2).
Session description
The urban population is growing continuously and now exceeds 75% in most EU countries. EU cities face expanding challenges for water, energy, environment and mobility management, and therefore need innovative platforms to administer their resources and services more efficiently.
The Internet of Things, which will soon see all electronic devices connected to the internet, is expected to change our lives significantly. Connected devices will generate an abundance of useful information. Big Data produced by large numbers of IoT devices will impact the future of cities and play a major role in providing possible solutions to various societal challenges.
Can mobility in cities be improved by Automated Driving and the Internet of Things to enhance quality of life? How can we deal with cyber-security, privacy and interoperability? These are questions that this Special Interest Session will answer.
